The Book of Prohibition

From The First Post, being a summary of the previous thread and the thread to come. Taken from The First Thread penned by the hand of Elle-chan:

Shortly after the Megatokyo Demon Invasion, Megatokyo passed a law banning certain types of anime and manga. At its core, the law was targeted at the more violent hentai productions; however, some government-employed legal hack saw the potential it had, and worded it vaguely enough that any "violent" or "adult themed" material could be targeted. A large otaku demonstration protesting the new law was met with riot gear, tear gas, and rubber bullets. Things quickly went downhill from there as more and more "violent" and "suggestive" manga and anime were pulled from the shelves, until the final blow was struck with Megatokyo's signing of the "Wasteful Materials Prohibition Act," effectively banning all anime, manga, and video games. The Big Three relocated within the six months before the law went into effect, as well as the larger of the anime production companies; those who could not afford to relocate closed their doors. Many of them, however, went underground and continued to produce.

Though the local law enforcement did not consider the factionists an active threat, the city's large population of super powered individuals gave the police enough of a pause that it kept them from really enforcing the law. Thus, the task fell to the Tokyo Police: Cataclysm Division. Research began in earnest to find ways to neutralize the perceived threat. This effort lead to the invention of the Anime Nullification Field Generator, or ANFG. Preliminary testing showed great success, and they began to research the possibilities of mass producing the devices. An overzealous Inspector Sonoda seized this moment to finally rid his city of the factionists who had plagued them with meaningless skirmishes, fractures in reality, demon invasions, and hellish mutations of culinary madness.

Although not completely successful in removing them, Sonoda was able to keep the factions under control.

In the beginning was house music, for that was the music of the night when the First Great Movie Rip Off occurred. DarkTan, being the leader of MegaTokyo's oldest surviving faction did see directly through the guise of certain charlatans and a crisis was averted. Across the fair city another was formed as the fair maiden Arella did twist and turn in her haunted slumber. The visions of death bore upon her dreams with no sign of ending. These endless night terrors drove her to work her to seek the council of diverse spirits, the kind that do dwell in bottles and casks. Though these two knew nothing of the other, their paths would soon cross.

But first we find the noble cat-boy arising from his slumber, leaving the sleeping form that lay next to him, he did depart to do a most noble duty. The instruction of the youth in the ways and knowledge of days gone past and the use of their abilities and powers. It was not long before his path did cross with the fair maiden Arella, his lost love, though he didst not know twas her.

Re: The Book of Prohibition

That self same evening another maiden, though fair of her own right, much darker than Arella, didn't tend to both to her customers and child. But, lo, a shortage of certain beverages didst occur and this dark maiden Saeko was forced to journey some distant city blocks in search of more. It was on this journey that she felt the familiar pull of one would would welcome oblivion. The dark maiden did enter the place where such despair wrought forth to find our fair maiden Arella drowning in a sea of despair and alcohol. Words were had, which then turned to blows. Not blows of the physical sort, but words that cut deeper than any weapons forged upon or under the earth. An agreement was found and the fair sisters, one light, one dark, did depart the place known as Lackey's to return to Saeko's bar. The bonds of family were once again restored. For now.

But alas, Lackey's would be no more. As the paranoid rambling of one deranged old man and excessive preparation came to a head. The elderly spy Kor set ablaze the bar once known as Lackey's and began a search for new haunts to dwell in.
